In short: ECG Catch has no server, no user account, no advertising and no analytics. The ECG you record stays on your iPhone. We cannot see your data.
Who is responsible

What data the app processes, and why
| Data | Why | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| ECG, heart rate, battery level and skin contact from the chest strap | Show the ECG live and save recordings when you press the button | The last 2 minutes only in memory. Saved recordings on the iPhone, in the app’s own storage |
| Notes you add to a recording | Remember what you were doing | With the recording on the iPhone |
| ECG from Apple Watch (read from Apple Health) | View and share the watch’s ECG recordings | Stays in Apple Health. Notes you add are stored on the iPhone |
| Language and settings | Remember your choices | On the iPhone |
| Purchase of the app | Give access to the app | With Apple. We are not told who has bought it |
The app asks for permission to use Bluetooth, notifications and Apple Health before using them. The app only reads ECG from Health and writes nothing there. You can withdraw permissions in the iPhone’s Settings.
Notifications and the Lock Screen display are created on the phone. They are not sent through any server.
Sharing
The app sends no data to us or anyone else. Data leaves the phone only when you share a recording as a PDF yourself, or through iCloud backup, which Apple manages under its own terms. If you have turned on sharing crash reports with developers in the iPhone’s Settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports.
Retention and deletion
Recordings stay on the iPhone until you delete them. You can delete single recordings in the app, or everything by deleting the app. ECG from Apple Watch is deleted in the Health app.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right of access, rectification, erasure and data portability. Since the data is only with you, you can exercise these rights directly in the app. You can complain to your national data protection authority (in Norway: Datatilsynet).
Children
The app is not aimed at children, and we collect no information about anyone, including children.
Changes
If we change how the app processes data, we update this page and the date at the top.
